Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans canned tuna, drained
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Drain the tuna thoroughly and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, shredded cheese, chopped green onions, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the bowl with the tuna. Mix until fully combined.
  3. With clean hands, shape the mixture into patties about the size of your palm. You should yield around 8-10 patties depending on size.
Cooking
  1. In a non-stick skillet, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil over medium heat. You want enough oil to just coat the bottom of the pan.
  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties into the skillet. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown.
  3. Once cooked, transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm, garnished with your favorite toppings!

Notes

Substitutions: Use whole-grain breadcrumbs for added fiber or non-dairy cheese for a vegan option. Ensure tuna is well-drained to avoid soggy patties.
