- Finely shred the cabbage using a sharp knife or a food processor.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage with flour, egg, and milk. Add grated cheese, if using, and season with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- For Baked Fritters: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spoon dollops of the mixture onto the sheet, flattening them slightly. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they turn golden brown.
- For Fried Fritters: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully drop spoonfuls of the cabbage mixture into the pan, frying until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a dollop of yogurt.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use chickpea flour instead of regular flour. For a vegan option, replace the egg with a flaxseed meal mixture.
