Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large flour tortilla
  • 1/2 cup diced chili (halal-compliant) You can use canned chili if you're short on time.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup nacho cheese sauce Optional for extra cheesiness.
  • 1/2 cup refried beans (halal-certified)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream For serving.
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (optional, for added spice) For those who enjoy a kick.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients, ensuring your diced chili and refried beans are ready.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place the flour tortilla in the skillet for about 30 seconds to warm it.
  2. Spread 1/2 cup of refried beans in the center of the tortilla, followed by 1/2 cup of diced chili.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and diced onions over the chili, and drizzle 1/4 cup of nacho cheese sauce on top.
  4. Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly from the bottom to create the burrito shape.
  5. Toast the wrapped burrito in the skillet on each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, if desired.
  6. Slice the burrito in half and serve with a dollop of sour cream and diced jalapenos on the side.

Notes

Consider using low-fat cheese or whole grain tortillas for a healthier version. Avoid overstuffing to prevent messy outcomes and ensure tortillas are warm when rolling.
