Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Follow the instructions on the packet.
  • 1 can refried beans Vegetarian refried beans can be used for a meatless option.
  • 1 cup salsa Use your favorite salsa brand.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or a Mexican blend works well.
  • to taste tortilla chips For serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Make sure to break it apart with a spatula for even cooking.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning according to the packet instructions, mixing well so the spices coat the beef evenly. If the mixture looks too dry, add a splash of water.
  4. In a baking dish, spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom.
  5. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture over the refried beans, then pour the salsa on top.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top and bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and slightly browned.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve with crispy tortilla chips.

Notes

For additional flavor, consider adding toppings like diced avocados, fresh cilantro, or jalapeños. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
