Preparation
- Gather all ingredients. Slice the cooked spicy beef sausage into thin pieces and set aside.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. This side will touch the skillet.
Assembly
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer your choice of cheese followed by the slices of spicy beef sausage. Add optional toppings if desired.
- Top with another slice of cheese and close the sandwich with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sandwich and cook for about 4 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 4 minutes, adding more butter if needed.
Serving
- Once both sides are crispy, remove from skillet, cut in half, and serve hot with extra toppings or a side of hot sauce.
Notes
Store leftovers in foil or an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet on low to retain crispiness.
