Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to experiment with different cheese types.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • to taste optional: herbs or spices for flavor Consider using rosemary, thyme, cayenne, or paprika.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter and melted butter. Stir until well-mixed.
  3. Add the shredded cheese, flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Optionally, add herbs for extra flavor. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Take small clumps of the dough and roll them into balls, about the size of a marble. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each ball.
  5. Flatten each ball gently to about 1/4 inch thick using a fork or your fingers.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the crackers to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. Enjoy with your favorite dips or on their own.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months. Reheat in the oven to restore crunch.
