For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to add more for extra chocolatey goodness!

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, blend together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to your wet ingredients, stirring until fully incorporated.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips to the dough.
  6. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Drop rounded balls of cookie dough onto the parchment, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden while the centers remain soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To enhance the cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. For different flavors, consider adding nuts or dried fruits. Store in an airtight container for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
