Preparation
- Pit and chop the dates into smaller pieces for easier mashing.
- In a small bowl, microwave dark chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
Assembly
- In a mixing bowl, mash the chopped dates using a fork or your hands until they form a sticky consistency.
- Form small portions of mashed dates into bite-sized balls and create a small indentation in each ball using your thumb.
- Pour caramel sauce into each indentation, filling them without overflowing.
- Drizzle melted dark chocolate over each filled date ball.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top and add any nuts or coconut if desired.
Finishing Touches
- Refrigerate the bites for about 10-15 minutes until set.
- Serve chilled for the best texture.
