Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lay the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Cooking
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine unsalted butter and brown sugar. Stir until bubbling and slightly caramelized—about 3-5 minutes.
- Carefully pour the bubbling toffee mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for a minute.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee. Add chopped nuts if desired.
- Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for about an hour to set.
- Break into pieces and enjoy.
