  • 1 cup 1 cup unsalted butter For rich, creamy toffee.
  • 1 cup 1 cup brown sugar Key ingredient for sweetness and caramelization.
  • 1.5 cups 1 ½ cups chocolate chips For a luscious melting chocolate finish.
  • 0.5 cup ½ cup chopped nuts (optional) Almonds or pecans work wonderfully.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Lay the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine unsalted butter and brown sugar. Stir until bubbling and slightly caramelized—about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Carefully pour the bubbling toffee mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers.
  3. Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for a minute.
  5. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee. Add chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for about an hour to set.
  7. Break into pieces and enjoy.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks.
