Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
Baking
  1. Place it in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
Cooling
  1. Once baked, let the bars cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing them into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. They can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks, or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-6 minutes.
