Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
- Pour the mixture into your prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
Baking
- Place it in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
Cooling
- Once baked, let the bars cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing them into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. They can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks, or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-6 minutes.
