  • 1 piece pizza dough (store-bought or homemade) Store-bought dough saves time.
Toppings
  • 2 cups rustic heirloom tomatoes, thinly sliced Fresh tomatoes are recommended for best flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil Use one for drizzling and two for the dough.
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or torn into pieces Patchy shredded mozzarella works too.
  • to taste Salt Enhances the overall flavor.
  • to taste Pepper Bring out the taste of toppings.
  • for garnish Fresh basil leaves Adds aroma and visual appeal.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for a crispy crust.
  2. Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface into a round shape that fits your baking tray or pizza stone.
  3. Transfer the dough to a baking tray lined with parchment paper or place it directly on a preheated pizza stone.
  4. Drizzle about 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the pizza base.
  5. Arrange the sliced heirloom tomatoes evenly over the pizza dough.
  6. Sprinkle the fresh mozzarella cheese on top of the tomatoes.
  7. Lightly sprinkle salt and pepper over the pizza.
Baking
  1. Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is crispy and golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. After baking, add fresh basil leaves on top for garnish.
  3. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
