Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (ensure they're Halal-certified)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts (e.g., almonds or walnuts), chopped Can substitute with Halal-friendly options.
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes (unsweetened is best)

Method

Preparation
  1. Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, pour in the dark chocolate chips. Heat them in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring in between until smooth. Be careful not to overheat!
  3. Once melted, stir in the chopped dates, nuts, and coconut flakes until everything is fully coated in chocolate. Sprinkle in the sea salt and mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  5. Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least two hours to allow the chocolate to firm up completely.
  6. Once set, use the parchment paper to lift the bark out of the pan. Slice into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. Avoid exposing melted chocolate to water to prevent it from seizing.
