Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast Can substitute with instant yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F) Ensure water is warm for yeast activation.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour Use unbleached for better texture.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Stir to evenly distribute.
  3. Once the yeast is foamy, add it along with the olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place your dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into two equal parts for two pizzas or keep it whole for a large family-sized pie.
  7. On a floured surface, roll it out to your desired thickness.
  8. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Transfer your shaped dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is crispy and golden.
  10. Allow your pizza to cool for a minute before slicing. Enjoy every delightful bite!

Notes

For best results, store leftover dough tightly wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. To reheat pizza, preheat to 350°F (175°C) and warm on a baking sheet for 5-7 minutes.
