Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Stir to evenly distribute.
- Once the yeast is foamy, add it along with the olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place your dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into two equal parts for two pizzas or keep it whole for a large family-sized pie.
- On a floured surface, roll it out to your desired thickness.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes.
- Transfer your shaped dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is crispy and golden.
- Allow your pizza to cool for a minute before slicing. Enjoy every delightful bite!
Notes
For best results, store leftover dough tightly wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. To reheat pizza, preheat to 350°F (175°C) and warm on a baking sheet for 5-7 minutes.
