Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large head cabbage Choose the larger outer leaves for wrapping.
  • 1 pound ground beef Can be substituted with chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for drizzling For an extra crispy finish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully remove the leaves from the cabbage head, aiming for the larger outer leaves.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Mix everything until fully combined.
  4. Take a cabbage leaf, place a generous amount of the meat mixture at the bottom, and roll it up, tucking in the sides to hold together.
  5. Place the cabbage burgers seam-side down on a greased baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
  7. Let them cool for a moment, then serve with your favorite dipping sauces or toppings.

Notes

For substitutions, use chicken, turkey, or even a mix of beans for a plant-based option. Ensure cabbage leaves are flexible enough to wrap around the filling; blanching them in boiling water can help. Experiment with spices like cumin or chili powder for added flavor.
