Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cardamom until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted unsalted butter, orange juice, and egg. Then add the fresh orange zest.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing; lumps are okay.
- Spoon the batter into a lined muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
For best results, don't pack the flour into the measuring cup. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
