Preparing the Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure your cake bakes evenly.
- Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the molasses, sugar, vegetable oil, and hot water. Whisk until it’s well blended.
- Crack the eggs into the mixing bowl and beat them lightly before incorporating them into the wet mixture.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
