Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour Measured by spooning into the cup and leveling off.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast Ensure it is fresh for best results.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted Can be substituted with olive oil or ghee for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup warm milk Warm to about 110°F (43°C) for yeast activation.
  • 2 large eggs Make sure to use room temperature eggs.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, along with the melted butter and eggs.
  3. Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking pan.
  6. Cover the shaped rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. While they’re rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  9. Remove from the oven, brush with melted butter if desired, and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For storage, allow rolls to cool completely and place them in an airtight container. They will last up to 2 days at room temperature or can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
