  • 1 lb ground turkey Choose halal-certified ground turkey.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes Adjust for spice preference.
  • 2 green onions chopped For garnish.
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground turkey. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once the turkey is cooked through, reduce the heat to medium and pour the marinade over the turkey, stirring well to coat.
  4. Cook the turkey in the marinade for another 3-5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and flavors meld.
  5. Turn off the heat and sprinkle chopped green onions on top. Serve hot with rice or lettuce wraps.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water to keep moist.
