Preparation
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain it and set aside.
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until it’s nicely browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, for about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and the onions are translucent.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (with their juice), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta into the skillet, mixing until everything is well combined and heated through.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it on top and cover the skillet for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Serve your Homemade Beefaroni hot, and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter option, try using ground turkey or plant-based meat. You can also use whole grain or gluten-free pasta alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for about 2 months.
