  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with all the spices: salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried sage, and dried thyme. If you're feeling adventurous, add the maple syrup or brown sugar for a hint of sweetness!
  2. Using clean hands, mix the ground beef and spices until everything is evenly combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat, as this can lead to a tough texture.
  3. Form the mixture into small patties, about 1-2 inches in diameter. You can make them thicker or thinner depending on your preference.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and allow it to warm up.
  2. Place the patties in the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd them. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes until cooked through.
  3. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) for safe consumption.

If you want to enhance the flavor even more, consider using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a leaner option. Don’t rush the cooking process; browning the patties properly enhances the flavor. Avoid over-mixing the meat to prevent a dense texture.
