  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown) You can use leftovers.
  • 4 tablespoons garlic butter Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 onion chopped onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If you haven’t cooked the rice yet, start with that. Refer to the package instructions for timing.
Sautéing
  1. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of garlic butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Cooking the Turkey
  1. Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it down with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until the turkey is no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
Combining
  1. Once the turkey is cooked, stir in 2 more tablespoons of garlic butter and mix until well-coated.
  2. Fold in the cooked rice, stirring until everything is heated through.
Serving
  1. Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For substitutions, use ground chicken or other ground meats that are Halal. For a vegetarian option, use sautéed mushrooms or crumbled tofu. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat with a splash of water or additional garlic butter.
