Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 large onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil can substitute with vegetable or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper or to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the green beans under cold running water, trim the ends, and set them aside to dry.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and allow it to warm for about 1-2 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and begin to caramelize.
  2. Toss the trimmed green beans into the pan with the onions, mixing them well.
  3. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the vegetables and stir to coat evenly. Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes until the green beans are bright green and tender but still crisp.
  4. Once done, transfer the Green Beans and Onions to a serving platter and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Substitutions include using vegetable or avocado oil instead of olive oil. Adding minced garlic during the onion cooking step can boost flavor. Avoid overcooking the green beans to maintain their crunchy texture.
