Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Swirl
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk For glaze

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
Combine Mixtures
  1. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry; stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
  3. Use a knife to swirl the topping gently through the batter, creating a delightful cinnamon ribbon.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Glaze Preparation
  1. While your cake is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth.
  2. Drizzle this over your cooled cake just before serving.

Notes

For unique flavor, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. Ensure you check the cake a few minutes early to prevent overbaking.
