Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 block firm tofu Ensure the tofu is pressed
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Adds aromatic flavor
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper Add to taste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce For seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For frying the tofu
  • to taste salt salt For seasoning
  • optional green onions for garnish Enhances presentation

Method

Preparation
  1. Drain the firm tofu and press it to remove excess water by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing something heavy on top for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes for optimal crispiness.
Cooking
  1. In a large non-stick pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the oil, stirring frequently for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Carefully place the tofu cubes into the pan and sear without stirring for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Sprinkle the black pepper and salt over the tofu, then pour the soy sauce over the mixture and gently stir to coat.
  5. Continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors.
  6. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, use sesame oil instead of olive oil or shallots instead of garlic for a sweeter taste. Ensure not to overcrowd the pan while cooking for crispy results.
