Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Preheating is crucial for achieving the perfect crust.
  2. Take your prime rib roast out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to ensure even cooking.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, salt, and pepper to form a paste. Rub this mixture all over the roast, ensuring it gets into every crevice.
Cooking
  1. Place the seasoned roast on a rack in a roasting pan and insert it into the preheated oven. Roast at 450°F for the first 20 minutes to develop a nice crust.
  2. After 20 minutes, reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting, cooking for about 15-20 minutes per pound for medium-rare doneness.
  3. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
  4. Once done, remove the roast from the oven, cover it loosely with foil, and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes to enhance juiciness.
