Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Preheating is crucial for achieving the perfect crust.
- Take your prime rib roast out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to ensure even cooking.
- In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, salt, and pepper to form a paste. Rub this mixture all over the roast, ensuring it gets into every crevice.
Cooking
- Place the seasoned roast on a rack in a roasting pan and insert it into the preheated oven. Roast at 450°F for the first 20 minutes to develop a nice crust.
- After 20 minutes, reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting, cooking for about 15-20 minutes per pound for medium-rare doneness.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- Once done, remove the roast from the oven, cover it loosely with foil, and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes to enhance juiciness.
- Carve your roast into thick slices and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
Allowing the roast to rest is crucial for juicy meat. Experiment with spices if desired, and always check the internal temperature for perfect doneness.
