Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
  2. Carefully slice the loaf of bread into a grid pattern, cutting into squares but not all the way through to hold the bread together.
  3. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Generously spread the butter mixture into each cut in the bread using a spoon or brush.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese generously between the cuts.
  6. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp up the top.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

Bread Choice: Use a fresh loaf of bread for best texture. Customization: Experiment with different cheeses and herbs. Check bread towards end of baking for doneness.
