Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 unit egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Frosting
  • 1 batch Frosting of your choice Feel free to use vanilla, chocolate, or other flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and white sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and blend until combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Spread the cookie batter evenly into a greased 11x17 inch baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden at the edges.
  2. Insert a toothpick in the middle; it should come out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the bars to cool completely before frosting.
  2. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For Halal-friendly options, substitute coconut oil for butter. Don’t overbake to maintain a chewy texture. Experiment with different flavorings in your frosting.
