Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cube the cold butter and add it to the flour mixture. Blend the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, mix the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Gradually pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it to combine, then pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into wedges or use a biscuit cutter for round scones.
Baking
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow the scones to cool slightly, then serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Store leftover scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
