Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed Ensure butter is thoroughly chilled for the perfect flaky texture.
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cube the cold butter and add it to the flour mixture. Blend the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, mix the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Gradually pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it to combine, then pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into wedges or use a biscuit cutter for round scones.
Baking
  1. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Allow the scones to cool slightly, then serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Store leftover scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
