Ingredients

For the filling
  • 1 lb Ground chicken (or turkey)
  • 1/4 cup Green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Pepper (to taste)
For the wontons
  • 1 pack Wonton wrappers
  • Water (for sealing)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.
Assembly
  1. Lay one wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of the wrapper.
  2. Using your finger, dip it in water and trace the edges of the wrapper to wet them. This will help seal the wonton.
  3. Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Press the edges together to seal, and then bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to create a pleated design. Ensure there are no air pockets inside.
  4. Continue this process until all the filling is used.
Cooking
  1. For pan-frying, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once heated, add the wontons and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. For boiling, fill a pot with water, bring it to a boil, and carefully add the wontons. Cook for about 5-6 minutes or until they float to the surface.
Serving
  1. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or a sprinkle of chopped green onions on top.

Notes

For variations, feel free to swap ground chicken with lamb, beef, or a plant-based ground meat alternative. Make sure not to overfill the wontons and seal edges well with water to prevent leaking.
