Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.
Assembly
- Lay one wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Using your finger, dip it in water and trace the edges of the wrapper to wet them. This will help seal the wonton.
- Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Press the edges together to seal, and then bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to create a pleated design. Ensure there are no air pockets inside.
- Continue this process until all the filling is used.
Cooking
- For pan-frying, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once heated, add the wontons and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- For boiling, fill a pot with water, bring it to a boil, and carefully add the wontons. Cook for about 5-6 minutes or until they float to the surface.
Serving
- Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or a sprinkle of chopped green onions on top.
Notes
For variations, feel free to swap ground chicken with lamb, beef, or a plant-based ground meat alternative. Make sure not to overfill the wontons and seal edges well with water to prevent leaking.
