Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
Filling Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped vegetables (e.g., cabbage, carrots, mushrooms) Feel free to swap out for any available vegetables.
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper To taste

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water. Knead until smooth and elastic. Wrap it in a damp cloth and let it rest for about 20 minutes.
Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped vegetables, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Roll Out the Dough
  1. Divide the rested dough into two parts. Roll each part into a thin sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut them into squares (about 3 inches).
Fill the Wontons
  1. Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square. Moisten the edges with water, fold over to create triangles, and seal tightly.
Cook the Wontons
  1. You can either boil, steam, or pan-fry your wontons. If boiling, cook until they float (about 5 minutes); for steaming, use a steamer basket for approximately 7-10 minutes; for pan-frying, heat some oil in a non-stick pan and fry until golden brown.
Serve
  1. Serve your Easy Vegan Wontons with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, store uncooked wontons in the freezer; they can be kept for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply increase cooking time without thawing.
