Preparation Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine the peanut butter and maple syrup over low heat. Stir consistently until the mixture is well blended and smooth.
- In a large bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, and pinch of salt. Ensure even distribution to avoid lumps in the bars.
- Pour the warm peanut butter mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a spatula until everything is fully combined. Add the dark chocolate chips and fold gently to distribute evenly.
- Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Use your hands or the back of a spatula to press the mixture down evenly into the pan.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
- Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into squares or rectangles and enjoy!
Notes
You can replace peanut butter with almond or cashew butter for a different flavor. For less sweetness, reduce brown sugar or opt for a suitable sugar substitute. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for longer storage.
