Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb steak (flank or sirloin) Ensure it's Halal-compliant.
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup queso cheese (or cheese sauce)
  • 1 medium bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 medium onion (diced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
Optional Toppings
  • to taste jalapeños For added spiciness.
  • to taste sour cream For creaminess.
  • to taste cilantro For freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cooking your rice according to package instructions if you haven't done so earlier.
  2. Dice the bell pepper and onion.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak with salt and pepper, and add it to the skillet. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
  3. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into thin strips.
  4. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté them for around 3-4 minutes, or until they’re softened and fragrant.
  5. Once the veggies are ready, return the sliced steak to the skillet. Add in the cooked rice and queso cheese, stirring until everything is well combined and heated through.
Serving
  1. Serve the Easy Steak Queso Rice hot, garnished with your choice of toppings—jalapeños, fresh cilantro, or a dollop of sour cream.

Notes

For variations, substitute the steak with mushrooms, black beans, or other vegetables for a vegetarian version. To keep it Halal, choose certified Halal steak or high-quality chicken breast.
