Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Start by finely chopping the onion and slicing the mushrooms.
Making the Beef Patties
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.
- Form the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick, and set them aside.
Cooking the Patties
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Once hot, add the patties. Cook them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they're browned and cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
Making the Gravy
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they’re soft.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring it to a simmer.
- Sprinkle the flour into the simmering broth while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
Combining
- Return the patties to the skillet with the gravy. Simmer everything together for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Serving
- Plate your Salisbury steaks with generous spoonfuls of the rich gravy on top. Enjoy!
Notes
For Halal-friendly options, consider using halal-certified beef or turkey. Ensure your patties are similarly sized for even cooking. Avoid overcooking the patties for the best results.
