  • 1/4 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by finely chopping the onion and slicing the mushrooms.
Making the Beef Patties
  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  2. Form the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick, and set them aside.

  2. Once hot, add the patties. Cook them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they're browned and cooked through.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
Making the Gravy
  1. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they’re soft.
  2. Pour in the beef broth and bring it to a simmer.
  3. Sprinkle the flour into the simmering broth while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
Combining
  1. Return the patties to the skillet with the gravy. Simmer everything together for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Serving
  1. Plate your Salisbury steaks with generous spoonfuls of the rich gravy on top. Enjoy!

Notes

For Halal-friendly options, consider using halal-certified beef or turkey. Ensure your patties are similarly sized for even cooking. Avoid overcooking the patties for the best results.
