Ingredients
  

For the bars
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular baking dish (around 9×13 inches).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar.
Assembling and Baking
  1. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle the cinnamon filling evenly over the batter, and then spread the remaining batter on top.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Preparation of Icing
  1. While the bars are cooling, prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once the bars are cool, drizzle with icing and cut into squares.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, consider using whole wheat flour or coconut oil. Check the bars for a golden brown appearance to avoid overbaking.
