Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular baking dish (around 9×13 inches).
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar.
Assembling and Baking
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle the cinnamon filling evenly over the batter, and then spread the remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Preparation of Icing
- While the bars are cooling, prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Finishing Touches
- Once the bars are cool, drizzle with icing and cut into squares.
Notes
For healthier alternatives, consider using whole wheat flour or coconut oil. Check the bars for a golden brown appearance to avoid overbaking.
