Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until fully mixed.
- Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until well combined, about 2 minutes.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- Enjoy as is, or top with frosting, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.
Notes
To store, keep covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. To freeze, wrap slices in plastic and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
