Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with a bit of butter or oil to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the diced apples. If you’re using nuts, fold them in at this stage.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping, and sprinkle this mixture over the batter in the loaf pan.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
Choose a baking apple like Granny Smith or Honey Crisp for the best flavor. You can use unsweetened applesauce in place of half of the butter for a lower-fat option. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in portions for up to 3 months.
