Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
- Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for 12 to 18 hours at room temperature.
Baking
- About 30 minutes before the dough has finished rising, preheat your Dutch oven at 450°F (230°C).
- Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, shape it into a ball, and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Carefully place the dough inside the preheated Dutch oven, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Store in a resealable plastic bag or airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Freeze tightly wrapped for up to three months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
