Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly between each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts.
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and pour the brownie batter in, spreading it evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. You can also freeze for later enjoyment. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds if desired.
