Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk Can substitute with almond, soy, or oat milk for Halal option.
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Batter Additions
  • 1 cup boiling water The batter will be thin.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together for about 30 seconds until fully incorporated.
Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. In another bowl, combine the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix together until smooth.
Combine
  1. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, blending thoroughly.
Add Boiling Water
  1. Carefully stir in the boiling water.
Bake
  1. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool
  1. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Frost
  1. Once cooled, frost with your choice of icing or enjoy plain.

Notes

For best results, ensure ingredients are at room temperature and avoid overmixing the batter. Wrap the cake tightly for storage.
