For the Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Spoon into the measuring cup, do not scoop.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 4 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 cup milk At room temperature.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
For the Frosting and Decoration
  • Frosting or whipped cream for layering
  • Fresh fruits (like berries or bananas) or nuts for decoration Customize according to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour. Mix just until combined.
Baking
  1. Divide the batter evenly between prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cakes cool in their pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Layering and Serving
  1. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread with frosting or whipped cream, and top with fruits or nuts. Repeat the layering.
  2. Decorate the top layer and serve your Danish Layer Cake with family and friends.

Notes

For a denser texture, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with cake flour. Citrus zest can be added for a flavored twist. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator; it lasts up to a week.
