Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened At room temperature
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
Topping
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar For sprinkling on top

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream until the dough is slightly sticky and thick.
  6. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Sprinkle a small amount of brown sugar on top of each cookie before baking.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center looks slightly underbaked.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and avoid overmixing the dough to prevent toughness. For a fun twist, try adding chopped nuts or dried fruits on top of the sugar just before baking.
