Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Stir in the heavy cream until the dough is slightly sticky and thick.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
- Sprinkle a small amount of brown sugar on top of each cookie before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center looks slightly underbaked.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and avoid overmixing the dough to prevent toughness. For a fun twist, try adding chopped nuts or dried fruits on top of the sugar just before baking.
