Preparation
- Begin by thawing your crab legs if they are frozen. Place them in a colander under cool running water for about 15-20 minutes.
Cooking
- In a large pot, fill it with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add some Old Bay seasoning if desired.
- Once the water is boiling, carefully add the crab legs. Cover the pot and steam for about 5-7 minutes until they are heated through.
- While the crab legs are steaming, melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and lemon juice, cooking until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Avoid burning the garlic.
- Once the crab legs are done steaming, remove them from the pot and arrange them on a platter. Drizzle the garlic butter over the legs and sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve with lemon wedges on the side and enjoy with crab crackers and seafood forks.
Notes
Use a seafood cracker for tough shells. Timing is key: do not overcook the crab legs. Consider adding different seasonings like Cajun spice or paprika for a twist. For dietary preferences, substitute butter with vegan options if needed.
