  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To enhance flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Chilled butter for flaky texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk together until blended.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the mixture. Use a pastry cutter or forks to blend until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips or almond paste/Nutella if desired.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a floured surface and gently press into a circle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into triangles.
  6. Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle towards the point to form croissants. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use cold butter and avoid over-kneading the dough. Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to crisp.
