Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline for consistency, or a knife if you prefer.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until warm but not boiling.
Layering and Baking
- In a greased baking dish, layer the thinly sliced potatoes. Pour a portion of the creamy sauce over them, and sprinkle half of the cheese. Repeat this process until all the potatoes, sauce, and cheese are used up.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for about 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and allow it to bake for an additional 20 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Serving
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh herbs before serving. Your Classic Gluten Free Scalloped Potatoes are ready to impress!
Notes
Consider adding sautéed onions or mushrooms between the layers for a punch of flavor. Allowing the dish to bake uncovered at the end will result in crisp, beautifully browned cheese on top.
