Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour Make sure to measure correctly
  • 1 cup milk Warm milk for activating yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar Divided for dough and topping
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened For mixing into the dough
  • 2 pieces eggs Room temperature
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Filling Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For icing
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk For icing consistency

Method

Preparing the Dough
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk with active dry yeast and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, remaining sugar, salt, eggs, and softened butter. Add the frothed yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Assembling the Rolls
  1. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle.
  3. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
  4. Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  5. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk to create a smooth icing.
  3. Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

For best results, measure flour correctly, and avoid over-kneading the dough. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or up to a week in the refrigerator.
