Method
Preparing the Dough
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk with active dry yeast and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, remaining sugar, salt, eggs, and softened butter. Add the frothed yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Assembling the Rolls
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log and cut into 1-inch pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk to create a smooth icing.
- Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls and serve.
Notes
For best results, measure flour correctly, and avoid over-kneading the dough. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or up to a week in the refrigerator.
