Preparation
- Start by greasing a 9×13 inch baking dish with a bit of butter or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the sugar until combined.
- Gradually mix in the chocolate chips to the melted butter and sugar, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat, and gently fold in the rice cereal, mini marshmallows, and mixed nuts until everything is well combined and coated in the chocolate mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, pressing it evenly into the pan. Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour until set.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Nut substitutions can be made with your favorite nuts or seeds like pumpkin seeds for a nut-free version. Timing is key; make sure your mixture cools adequately to avoid falling apart. A sprinkle of sea salt on top before cooling can elevate the flavor profile.
