Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened Use softened butter for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs Can substitute with mashed bananas or unsweetened applesauce.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional chocolate chips or sprinkles for decoration Add for extra flavor and fun.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure the perfect baking temperature.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Blend in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, mixing until just combined.
  6. If using, fold in chocolate chips or sprinkles into the cookie dough.
  7. Scoop out dough balls and place them on a greased baking sheet leaving space in between each scoop.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies look set around the edges.
Cooling
  1. Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Enjoy with a glass of milk or your favorite warm beverage!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days or freeze for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature or microwave for about 10 seconds before enjoying.
