  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Chilled heavy cream whips better.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • whipped cream for topping You can use homemade or store-bought.
  • chocolate shavings for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir gently until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl and let it cool slightly for about 10 minutes before placing it in the refrigerator for 30-45 minutes to thicken.
  4. While waiting, whip some heavy cream until soft peaks form, if you prefer homemade whipped cream.
  5. Once the chocolate mixture has thickened, spoon it into dessert dishes. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
  6. Serve immediately or chill a bit longer if desired.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute with dairy-free chocolate chips and coconut cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy within 3-5 days.
