Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar For chewier cookies, substitute some brown sugar for granulated sugar.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Halal-friendly.
Add-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still appear slightly undercooked.
  2. Remove from the oven and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat for 10-15 seconds in the microwave for a freshly baked taste.
