  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Gather your mixing bowl, electric mixer, and spatula.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the softened unsalted butter. Beat it with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing on low until fully combined.
  4. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and blend until well mixed.
  5. Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Beat on medium-high speed for another 1-3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  6. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time. If too runny, gradually add more powdered sugar.

Notes

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Allow to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before using. Re-whip if too firm.
